SUMMARY
We are currently seeking a General Manager for Oak Island Resort & Conference Centre, located on Nova Scotia’s Western Shore, nestled between Chester and Mahone Bay. Set along the oceanfront and renowned for its connection to the legendary Oak Island, the resort is a full-service destination featuring guest rooms and suites, multiple dining outlets, extensive conference and banquet facilities, outdoor and sport amenities, marina access, and a wide range of recreational experiences.
Position Profile
The General Manager is responsible for all aspects of resort operations by leading, coaching and mentoring hotel employees, supervisors and managers, ensuring the maximization of revenues, market share, NOI, GSI, ESS through the development of a strong service culture and entrepreneurial spirit that displays the values and vision of ATLIFIC HOTELS.
Operations
- Effectively implements resort and Atlific standards including property condition, cleanliness and quality of product and service.
- Standard Operating Procedures for the resort are developed, reviewed and followed.
- Participates in the sales process; setting the sales strategy, building strong customer relationships, conducting resort tours and participating in client meetings and events.
- Proactively leads all operational departments including Rooms, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Conference Services, Marina, Human Resources and Engineering.
- Works closely with Atlific Revenue Management to develop strategies that maximize total revenue and market share.
Financial
- Manages the operational budget and directs the annual resort strategic planning process, operating budget, and capital plans.
- Maximizes NOI through effective execution of sales strategies, strong cost controls and financial discipline.
- Oversees capital improvement projects to maintain and enhance the resort’s product and protect the asset.
Human Resources and Development
- Creates a strong service culture and maximizes guest satisfaction (GSI).
- Leads performance management processes and employee development.
- Hires and develops department leaders.
- Drives employee engagement and satisfaction (ESS).
Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement
- Represents the resort within the community and tourism sector.
- Maintains strong relationships with ownership, Atlific leadership and partners.
- Encourages a collaborative, open culture across all teams.
- Oversees execution of corporate initiatives.
Risk Management
- Ensures health and safety of all guests and employees.
- Maintains emergency response and life safety plans.
- Ensures compliance with all regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Hospitality or Business.
- Minimum 5 years GM experience in a full-service resort or hotel.
- Strong leadership, operational and financial skills.
- Experience with resort and conference operations considered an asset.
